Seaweeds is an AgTech company whose mission is to help provide local solutions to global food security by improving operations of water-based, sustainable farming systems. Our company uses novel analytical techniques and artificial intelligence to ensure we are offering the most dependable water quality monitoring system.

About Us

Seaweeds is comprised of highly-skilled engineers, data scientists, and computational modelers who are determined to help shift the global towards a more sustainable future.  Our technology will supply its users with accurate estimations and predictions of their key water quality parameters.  Seaweeds will ensure farming operations are optimized and protected, as we are here to keep production high, and problems low.

Meet the Team

Joel McAuliffe

Chief Executive Officer, CEO

Joel McAuliffe graduated from East Carolina University with a B.S. in Applied Atmospheric Sciences and Math. He later received his M.S. in Meteorology from the University of Oklahoma. His background is in modeling and simulation of various environmental fields including meteorology, oceanography, and biogeochemistry.

Taylor Forbes

Chief Operating Officer, COO

Taylor Forbes earned a B.S. in Applied Physics, Chemistry, and Biochemistry from East Carolina University. She later received her Digital Skills Certificate from N.C. State University and is earning her PMP certification from Cornell University. Her background is in Research and Development, Device Lifecycle Management, Manufacturing, Strategic Planning, and Capital Project Management.

Ash Brereton

Chief Technical Officer, CTO

Dr. Ashley Brereton graduated from the University of Liverpool, with a BSc (2009) and PhD (2014) in Applied Mathematics. He specializes in numerical modeling, particularly focussed on ocean turbulence, marine ecosystems, and water quality. His expertise also extends to high-performance computing (HPC). Currently working as a research scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, he employs both traditional and deep learning models to coastal wetlands, where he aims to predict the carbon sequestration potential under different climate change scenarios

Greer Babbe

Chief Scientific Officer, Technical Writer

Greer Babbe has a bachelor's in Environmental Science with a minor in Wildlife Management from Chadron State College. She went on to get a master's in Marine Science and Oceanography. Her background includes bivalve aquaculture, marine sponge ecology, and environmental chemistry.
